An all important double by National Quarries North East Stars striker Anthony Wolfe gave the struggling Defending Champions a come from behind 2-1 win over former Champions CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh at the Sangre Grande Recreation Ground.


The Stars playing in front of their home fans fell behind early on when overlapping full back Ancil El cock stabbed one past North East Goalkeeper Trevor Nottingham to give San Juan Jabloteh a 1-0 lead.

There was a deafening silence at the Sangre Grande Recreation ground—but there was no panic on the North East Stars bench and Anthony Wolfe stepped up and cracked a low drive from outside the six yard box that got past the outstretched hand of Durance Williams in goal for Jabloteh, the score tied at one.

In the 37th minute the winner came, from a goal mouth scramble, with Wolfe hitting the back of the net to the delight the home fans at the Sangre Grande Recreation ground the Stars holding on for a 2-1 win.

Once again Jabloteh’s strikers failed to hit the target—and North East Stars benefited and late in the game could have gone further in the lead when Kern Navarro shattered the bar with a thunderous long rage effort.

North East Stars jumped to 3rd in the standings on 7 points and Jabloteh is in 4th place on 5 points from 5 games.
