South-West Drillers and Tobago United are in danger of being “kicked out” of the T&T Professional Football League.

Languishing at the bottom of the standings, these two teams will not be involved in the fourth round of the competition. Instead, they must contest a play-off with the top four teams of the National Super League—Joe Public, L-Sporto Crab Connection, Superstar Rangers and Police—from which the winning side and the runner-up team will qualify to compete in the Pro League next season. This play-off will get going on October 24.

Only the top six teams at the end of the third round, which ends on October 17, will be be eligible to play in the fourth round of the Pro League to determine the winner.

The “Big Six” are North-East Stars, defending champion side San Juan Jabloteh, W Connection, Starworld Strikers, Defence Force and Arima Morvant Fire.

The points earned by these teams in the fourth round will be added to points obtained in the first three rounds.

CEO of the Pro League, Dexter Skeene, said that “the decision to have these play-offs signals the commitment of the Pro League to work together with the T&T Football Federation, to ensure that football continues to develop in T&T.”
