United Petrotrin pulled within three points of T&T Pro League champions, CLICO San Juan Jabloteh, yesterday with a last gasp 1-0 win over the eastern outfit in Palo Seco.
Jabloteh ran out comfortable 3-0 winners the last time the teams met, on July 1 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium. Yesterday's triumph, though not nearly as emphatic, must have hurt the losers at least as much. The game appeared to be petering out to a tame draw when national striker Jerol Forbes stabbed home from an inswinging corner and went cartwheeling away.

It was Forbes' fifth goal this season and ensured Petrotrin's first league win since May. As an added bonus, Forbes had spoiled the day for a club who groomed him as a youngster but did not sufficiently rate his ability as an adult. Still, Jabloteh had their moments on the crude, uneven surface.

Karlon Murray and Jason Marcano went close in the first half, while substitute Lester Peltier had an effort disallowed for an infringement on Petrotrin goalkeeper Perry Martin in the 62nd minute. But Forbes' 88th minute strike ensured that the former Under-17 World Cup player laughed last and loudest.

In another Pro League game yesterday, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Neal & Massy Caledonia AIA rallied from a goal down to beat ten-man Tobago United 2-1. Tobago led in the 20th through Guyanese Collie Hercules, who was scoring his seventh league goal of the season. But Jamal Jack was sent off in the 39th minute and Guyanese striker Nigel Codrington gave Caledonia victory with a pair of goals in the 39th and 78th minutes.
