CLICO San Juan Jabloteh captain Trent Noel picked up his third Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in consecutive years following the club's 2008 awards ceromony.

The clever midfielder picked up Jabloteh's Most Valuable Player award at their end-of-season function at the Cascadia Hotel in St Ann's last Monday after a strong season for him wearing the armband.

Noel put 17 goals past opposing teams in the T&T Pro League and other competitions this year, including a superb free kick in last Friday's Toyota Classic final against St Ann's Rangers.

"This has to go down as one of my best seasons. I have had good seasons already, but not as captain," Noel declared. That was confirmed at Monday's event.

Another big winner on the night was defender Robert Primus, who received the Chairman's Award, as well as the Most Outstanding Youth accolade.

Jabloteh won the 2008 T&T Pro League, the Lucozade Sport Big Six competition, and the Toyota Classic. Their youth and women's football teams also performed strongly, with their Under-18 and Under-16 squads winning the Pro League youth competitions, while they won the Women's East Zone FA competition, the Eddie Hart Women's Football League, the Eddie Hart Women's Football League knockout tournament and the Under-18 Republic Bank Girls Cup.

Jabloteh's men also reached the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy and semi-finals in the First Citizens Cup, while the women were second in the East Zone competition, and their Under-14 team were fourth in the Pro League, without losing a match.

Jabloteh chairman Jerry Hospedales paid tribute to skipper Noel for his "deft passes and game-winning, dead-ball techniques, including the one in the Toyota Classic final" and his leadership.

"As a club gathered here this evening, he is to be commended and recognised " Hospedales said during the chairman's address.

Hospedales also praised Jabloteh head coach, Englishman Terry Fenwick, who took the team to 23 wins in 32 matches and just four losses.

"This is CLICO San Juan Jabloteh 2008, winners of back-to-back Pro League Championships and the best team in Trinidad and Tobago, if not in the Caribbean...but we would certainly prove that we are so in the 2009 CFU (Caribbean Football Union) Championships," said Hospedales.

He also thanked CLICO for almost 15 years of sponsorship and hoped to get the community of San Juan more actively involved in football.

"We do hope that national spectator interest in the T&T Pro League and our club would be fostered with our eventual return to our potential home base in San Juan, at the Brian Lara Stadium in Santa Cruz, when completed."

Hospedales added: "Our consistent successes are no doubt due to the adoption and effective implementation of our long-term strategic plan, the core of which is our youth programmme."
