GOALKEEPER Dinnia Diaz produced three penalty kicks stops as Costa Rica edged Trinidad and Tobago women’s national team 3-0 on spot-kicks, becoming the 18th team to book its spot among the 24-member cast for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup, to be played in Canada.

Trinidad & Tobago scored twice in the second half to defeat Guatemala 2-1 in the 2014 CONCACAF Women's Championship at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium on Monday.

Top-ranked Caribbean and Central America teams, T&T and Costa Rica, will lock horns tonight in search of a place in the final of the Concacaf Women’s Championship, and more importantly, a spot at next year’s Fifa Women’s World Cup.

Even a loss against Guatemala tonight may not rule T&T’s senior women’s team out of a spot in the semifinal stage of the Concacaf Women’s Championship, once the USA records an expected win over Haiti.

T&T’s senior women’s team has been given a boost ahead of tomorrow’s semifinal clash against Costa Rica in the Concacaf Women’s Championship as Cabinet announced a $50,000 incentive for each player.

Trinidad and Tobago captain Maylee Attin-Johnson was elated with this country’s 1-0 victory over Haiti on Friday night but wasn’t too pleased with the performance of the team and she expects better when they face Guatemala in Monday’s closing Group encounter in Washington.

“Coming into this tournament we knew all we needed was two wins to get out the group.. Those two wins have now seen us into the semi finals where we hope to make it three wins in a row.”
