Trinidad and Tobago’s Senior Women booked their place in the CONCACAF Final Round of Olympic qualifying with a come from behind 2-1 victory over Jamaica in their CFU semi-final encounter at the Ato Boldon Stadium tonight.

T&T got a second half equalizer from Ahkeela Mollon and a winner in extra time from Tasha St Louis to take care of business.

T&T moves onto to the eight-team CONCACAF Finals in the US next February which already includes the US, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica. The top two teams will advance to the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Speaking after the match, interim coach Anthony Creece said his side was prepared for a tough outing.

“We came into the game knowing it would be a tough encounter. The rivalry is always there and we were prepared for it. All credit to the players for getting the job done.

The players spoke about the last time they played Jamaica and it was something they wanted to take care of. They wanted to qualify (for the CONCACAF Finals) tonight without waiting on Friday’s game and they did that,” Creece stated.

“Of course I would always want to strengthen the team wherever possible and we’ll look at that. But we’ll take it one step at a time as the CONCACAF finals is still a little way off. We are focusing now on winning the final on Friday and then we have to prepare for the two games against the US next month.”

T&T will face Puerto Rico in the final at the Ato Boldon Stadium on Friday.
