Less than a month after launching its ticket sales campaign, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the Fifa Under 17 Women’s World Cup has confirmed record-breaking sales. The TSC was launched earlier this month and already deputy CEO Nataki Kerr says the sales figures have “exceeded all expectations.” “Our ticketing department formulated a number of possible sales target points to determine the success of the campaign. I am pleased to report we have reached our target goal for the month of June.”

Kerr said the Local Organising Committee was committed to ensuring that it has sold out stadia during the tournament. She said one hundred and fifty thousand tickets had been printed for the tournament, which will kick off on September 5. LOC Chairman Oliver Camps said he viewed the development as a positive sign. “We can view these results as an indicator of great things to come. “In the middle of a Fifa Men’s World Cup, to have reached our target is a tremendous achievement. If we continue along this path we will meet all our target expectations.”

For the opening match between T&T and Chile, tickets will be priced at $60 for the covered stands while the uncovered sections (on both September 5 and 25) will cost $40. For the other matches, the cost of admission for the covered section is $40 and, for the uncovered stands, patrons will only have to pay $20 to enter. LOC Officials say that prices had been reduced to ensure that the event can be enjoyed by all. Tickets can be purchased online at www.fifa.com or by calling 1-800-fans. Online purchases must be accompanied by credit card (preerably VISA) information for payment, providing that the holder of the credit card is purchasing the tickets.

Persons will need to provide their full names, date of birth, nationality, identification card/passport number and a photocopy (of purchase confirmation) to collect the tickets, which can be obtained at the Dr Joao Havelange Centre of Excellence, Macoya on June 26, July 31 and August 28. A total of 16 teams will be participating in the event, which will feature matches at the five major stadia in T&T—the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo; the Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima; the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella; the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva and the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacolet.
