Four different players were on target as 1st FC Santa Rosa continued its march towards the Emerald Apartment and Plaza Eastern Football Association Premier Division crown with a 4-0 shut-out of WASA on Sunday.
Yannick Pilgrim opened the scoring for the “Big Cannons” in the 12th minute at the University of T&T Ground, O’Meara Road, D’Abadie before Jared Bennett (47th), Hayden De Verteuil (64th) and teenager, Dwayne Muckette (69th) added the others in the second-half.
The win pushed Santa Rosa to 33 points from 15 matches, six ahead of second placed Joe Public with three matches left for each club while Valtrin United is next with 26 points from 13 matches and WASA, fourth, a further point behind.
Joe Public had a 2-0 win over FC Maloney at its Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, home ground with Kareem Edwards and Jason Cudjoe the scorers. At the end of round 18 matches, the league champion will join the other association winners in the T&T Football Federation “Champion of Champions” competition from which two teams will qualify for the bmobile National Super League.
