Moruga FC and Point Fortin Civic Centre stayed top of their respective tables in the Southern Football Association Petrotrin Super League after registering contrasting victories last weekend.

In the Roy Jagroopsingh Group A, Moruga won without breaking a sweat after its carded opponent, cellar-placed Corinthians failed to show.

The win was the second in four days for Moruga, which also edged past Diamond United 2–1, inspired by a brace from Nigel John to climb to 16 points from six matches at the top of the seven-team table, eight clear of Marabella Family Crisis Centre and the University of T&T.

Led by a hat-trick from Renefor Martin, Marabella clobbered Union United FC 6–0 at Claxton Bay, but was then held to a 1–1 draw by lowly Diamond United, while Jamal Creighton also scored all three goals for UTT in an entertaining 3–3 draw at Cedar Hill United.

In the Winston St Clair Group B, Point Fortin, led by four goals in two matches, from Wrenn Hector, the brother of Asia-based national midfielder Hughton Hector, won two straight to extend its perfect run to five matches.

First up, Point Fortin coasted past Club Sando 3–0 at the Mahaica Oval, Point Fortin, with Hector, Atiba Athill and Ma Carlon Turton all on target on Saturday, before Hector netted a treble, Anderson Morrison two and Philvaughn Jones the other, in a 6–0 mauling of Centre For Excellence on Wednesday.

Point Fortin now sits top of its table with 15 points, five more than Barrackpore blanked Pluc Road United 3–0 with Rendell Brown, Stephen James and Quacy Cooper the goalscorers.

And in the Youth Division, La Brea was crowned Under-16 champions following its 7–3 defeat of Gasparillo Youths, thanks to a hat-trick from Joel Stephen.

Nathaniel Dyer chipped in with a double for La Brea with Matthew Khan and Kaliff Phillip adding one apiece while Israel Lewis, Sembi Hart and Merlic Cumberbatch netted for the visiting Gasparillo Youths.

In the Under-14 league final, Point Fortin edged Marabella Family CC 5–4 on penalty-kicks after a 0–0 draw at the end of regulation time.
