EDINBURGH 500 FC and Cunupia FC both advanced to the semi-final round of the Central Football Association (CFA) Chaguanas Borough Corporation Hugo Francis Memorial Cup on Wednesday.
In a quarter-final double-header at the Hugo Francis Recreation Ground, Edinburgh 500 edged Enterprise Youths 2-1 while Cunupia FC squeezed past Xtra Foods Chaguanas FC 1-0. In the first game, Edinburgh 500 got strikes from Ryan Ramsey (11th minute) and Christopher Eneau (42nd) and held on for the win, despite a reply from Taurean Sobers for Enterprise Youths in the 44th.
And Lester Joseph netted in the 74th to give Cunupia a hard-fought win over Chaguanas FC.
The other quarter-finals will take place this weekend, with Perseverance United meeting Leeds FC today at the Hugo Francis Ground while Enterprise Life Sport FC will tackle Harlem Strikers FC tomorrow at the New Settlement Recreation Ground.
The semi-finals are scheduled for Tuesday while the final of the Hugo Francis Memorial Cup will take place on October 11 at 6pm at the Hugo Francis Recreation Ground. The winners will receive $4000 and a trophy.
