Enterprise Youths slim chance of lifting the CRIL-sponsored Central Football Association Premier Division was ended on Saturday night after a 0-0 draw with Xtrafoods Chaguanas at New Settlement Ground, Caroni.
Going into the match, Enterprise Youths was third on the the nine-team table with 25 points from 12 matches, 11 behind leaders Cunupia which had played a match more while second placed Edinburgh 500 FC had 27 points from 12 matches.
With the 0-0 draw and the point earned, Enterprise Youths can only reach 35 points should it win its remaining three matches.
Also on Saturday, Perseverance United solidfied its hold on fourth spot with 20 poinst from 12 matches, without breaking a sweat after scheduled opponents, Arawak Combined defaulted while Harlem Strikers’ Keron Fox tricked cellar-placed Leeds Fc with goals in the 39th, 57th, and 87th in his team’s 5-1 triumph.
At the end of the 16-match schedule for each club, the winners will collect $15,000. The runner-up will get $7,500; third, $6,000 and fourth, $3,000.
The winners will also qualify for the T&T Football Association “Champion of Champions” Tournament, a qualifier to the National Super League competition.
Cunupia FC, winners of the FA Tropy and Hugo Francis Memorial Cup already this season will begin defence of its Sanitank League Cup against Harlem Strikers in the quarterfinal round on Saturday at New Settlement Ground.
The tournament will get going today with a perliminary round clash between Enterprise Youths and Leeds FC at Hugo Francis Recreation Ground from 7 pm.
