Stevon Stoute scored a pair of goals as Cunupia FC claimed the $16,000 CRIL-sponsored Central Football Association Premier Division after a 3-1 whiping of Enterprise Youths on Tuesday.

Stoute got his first in the 35th minute for the quadruple title-chasing Cunupia to lead 1-0 at the half, only for Kern Alexis to get Enterprise Youths level within a minute of the resumption.

Kerry Daniel then restored Cunupia’s lead in the 72nd minute while Stoute got his second and the team’s third eight minutes later to seal victory and carry their points tally to 39 from 14 matches with two left to play versus Arawak Combined and Xtrafoods Chaguanas.

However, Cunupia has been declared champions after today’s scheduled opponent for its penultimate league fixture, Arawak Combined informed the CFA General Secretariat, Stephen Bartholomew, it will no longer be able to field a team for the remainder of the tournament.

With the CFA Premier Division crown, Cunupia also qualified as the first team to the T&T Football Federation “Champion of Champions” Tournament, a qualifier to the National Super League competition.

It was also the third title from as many competitions for far for Cunupia which also won the CFA FA Trophy and Hugo Francis Memorial Cup already this season while it is also through to the semifinals of the Sanitank League Cup after a default quarterfinal win over Harlem Strikers in the quarterfinal on Saturday at New Settlement Recreation Ground.

In another match, Edinburgh 500 FC solidified its hold on second spot with 30 points from 13 matches after edging past Enterprise Life Sport on a 90th minute winner from Husani Thomas to redeem itself after a Sanitank Cup 2-3 quarterfinal loss to Enterprise Youths on Sunday.
