Gosine returns as CFA president

At the as­so­ci­a­tion's An­nu­al Gen­er­al Meet­ing (AGM) and Elec­tion of Of­fi­cers at the of­fice of Wood­ford Lodge in Ch­agua­nas on May 14, Go­sine who was in­stru­men­tal in rais­ing the prize struc­ture in the top flight CFA League com­pe­ti­tion, got the nod ahead of his chal­lenger Christo­pher Reg­is 12-8, while Wen­dell Col­ly­more, Al­lan Lo­gan and David Ramkallawan pre­vailed by sim­i­lar 12-8 mar­gins.

Go­sine said his goal for his new term is to grow the sport from the el­e­men­tary to the se­nior lev­el, and prob­a­bly pro­duce play­ers for the na­tion­al teams from the cen­tral area.

"This year we have 14 clubs at the top flight com­pe­ti­tion and we want to take it to 24 by next year. We will al­so work hard on el­e­men­tary foot­ball by tar­get­ing young play­ers at the Pri­ma­ry Schools. We will al­so hold coach­ing cours­es to im­prove the abil­i­ty of the coach­es in the cen­tral area and will work with ref­er­ees to en­sure they are com­fort­able with their stipend," Go­sine told Guardian Me­dia Sports.

Go­sine's first or­der of busi­ness will be to pro­pose the re­turn of his hard-work­ing gen­er­al sec­re­tary Clynt Tay­lor and to hold meet­ings with his ex­ec­u­tives ahead of the start of the new sea­son.

Four­teen mem­bers pre­sent­ed them­selves for sev­en po­si­tions and at the end, Go­sine re­ceived an­oth­er four-year term, along with his first and sec­ond vice pres­i­dents Col­ly­more and Lo­gan, both of whom de­feat­ed Brent De Ver­tu­il and Philmore George re­spec­tive­ly.

Ramkallawan, on the oth­er hand, was al­so giv­en the op­por­tu­ni­ty to serve for a sec­ond time as as­sis­tant sec­re­tary op­er­a­tions at the ex­pense of Shal­isha Khan.

Go­sine, how­ev­er, will have three new mem­bers on his ex­ec­u­tive- Keisha Lewis-Noel, Wil­fred Ed­wards and Gre­go­ry Mc Sween, the Harlem Strik­ers man­ag­er who has been at the heart of foot­ball de­vel­op­ment in the cen­tral.

Lewis-Noel comes in as a re­place­ment for Jim­my Hen­ry as as­sis­tant sec­re­tary ad­min­is­tra­tion, while Ed­wards takes over from An­tho­ny Jobe who re­signed last two years ago.

Mc Sween, on the oth­er hand, re­places Ray­mond Su­perville as an or­di­nary mem­ber. Su­perville was oust­ed af­ter he breached the as­so­ci­a­tion's con­sti­tu­tion by miss­ing more than four Board meet­ings.
