North East Stars sign two former national strikers.

By: Joel Villafana.
22-Oct-2005 - The 2004 Pro League Champions National Quarries North East Stars completed two major signings—and their attacking force may have a totally different out look when they take the field against San Juan Jabloteh on Friday in the Toyota Classic.
Strikers Gary Glasgow and Kevin Jeffrey both signed on the dotted line for the Sangre Grande Stars—Glasgow who has not been able to make the cut in Leo Beenhakker’s Warriors was transferred from Chinese club Gaungzhou FC, while Kevin Jeffries was brought from American A League’s Richmond Kickers.
North East have been pursuing the two strikers during the last transfer window but was unable to close the deals before the closing of the window, September 14.
The move was held up after the Stars were unable to get the International Transfer Clearance in time.
Club Owner Darryl Mahabir, said he is excited about the prospect of the two former national players joining the ranks, he told ttproleague.com. “I am extremely happy with the signings—we have been struggling this season to score goals on a consistent basis—I am hoping with both Glasgow and Jeffries coming to partner Jerren Nixon and Anthony Wolfe—we can be a serious attacking force to be reckoned with.”
Glasgow and Jeffrey should be able to be in time to take their place in the squad for the all important Toyota Classic quarter final clash against the in form CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on Friday 21.

Kevin Jeffrey looks beyond Richmond.

By Shaun Fuentes.
01-Oct-2003 - United States-based striker Kevin Jeffrey may have played his last season with American A-League side Richmond Kickers following three fruitful seasons there. The 28-year-old striker is back home following a season which saw him finish with 10 goals and nine assists. This followed previous performances of 20 goals in the 2001 season and nine goals last season.
"I enjoyed a pretty good season again but it was a learning experience not being able to get into the playoffs. The feeling of failure was something valuable in a sense," said Jeffrey.
He has attracted interest from MLS club DC United and even received an invitation to join them for the remainder of the season. "I could possibly look beyond Richmond for the new season because I want to set myself a new challenge. I got the chance to move on to DC United but I turned down the chance because it would have been tough breaking into the team at this stage of the season but definitely there are things in the making for the new season," added Jeffrey who is back home and has held talks with national coach Stuart Charles Fevrier and may end up with a chance to prove his worth during national training sessions. "I believe that I can make some sort of positive contribution. Mental toughness is one of my strong points and I think this is an area in where I can assist the rest of the team as well."

25-July-2002 - Former National under-23 forward Kevin Jeffrey has recovered fully from groin strain and is back to what he does best. Scoring goals for the Richmond Kickers in the American A-League. Jeffrey scored his first goal in seven matches on Wednesday night in a 1-1 draw with Charleston Battery. Earlier on he was causing coach Leigh Cowlishaw who left on the bench at the start of that match. I'm a goal scorer," Jeffrey said. "I can score goals."
"The league is a lot tougher this year. The biggest thing: Our chemistry is not clicking like it did last year. It's just a matter of time," the former CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh player explained after the draw.
"My teammates, my coaches, they have confidence in me. I have confidence in myself," added Jeffrey who is also part of a current Fox Sports Television ad for the A-League.
He was smiling and signing autographs. The Kickers had played quite possibly the league's best team to a draw. Jeffrey made it possible. "I'm back," he said. Richmond are currently third in the southeastern Division of the League.
In related news, local striker Gary Glasgow, playing for Hampton Road Mariners made the final pass to teammate Gary Brooks to shoot home in the 49th minute as Mariners defeated Jeffrey's Kickers 2-1 on Saturday.

Jeffrey ended last season as the Richmond leader with 20 goals and nine assists. He also won the League's "Player of the week" award on six occasions.
Meanwhile, former national youth defender Roger Groome was a A-League draft pick by the Charlotte Eagles last week. Groome was a member of the Roberts Wesleyan College in New York last year and earned the new selection following a number of impressive performances. He also played in the American Premier Development League for the Cascade Surge. Broome was NAIA All-American in 2001. Eagles manager Tom Engstrom said "Roger comes highly recommended from the coaching staff at Roberts Wesleyan the Cascade Surge and we feel he's ready to make the step from college and the PDL to the A-League."

Kevin Jeffrey awaits national call.

United States-based striker Kevin Jeffrey is anxiously awaiting a call to the national team after a burning up the nets in the recent American A-League season.
Jeffrey was selected on the A-League All Star team after scoring some twenty goals for the Richmond Kickers and now awaits the chance to impress national coach Rene Simoes.
Speaking on the weekend while in the company of Stern John at Sunday's T&T versus United States (11-11-01)  match at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Jeffrey was optimistic about his chances.
"Definitely if I get the opportunity to practice with the team hopefully I will be able to impress enough where I will get a call for an international friendly at least. But it's also hard right now not really playing and so I may not be at my best to go an impress in training since my season ended in October. But at the same time I will give it my best shot," said Jeffrey.
He is scheduled to rejoin the Kickers for the second of a two year contract next year.
"I am scheduled to go back next year if nothing transpires MLS wise. Right now I'm on a two year contract and everything's pretty much set for me to go back," he added.
