CLAYTON Ince shrugged off his incredible man-of-the-match performance against Coventry - and insisted he wants to get better!

Ince pulled off a breathtaking array of saves as the Alex stayed under the cosh for long period's during their 1-0 win at Highfield Road. He denied the midlands side on countless occasions, leading Dario Gradi to call him a 'colossus'.

But the big Trinidadian is looking only to the future and claims he can improve on his heroics. He said: 'I wouldn't want to play games like that all the time but it is good to know that when called on I am up there for the challenge.

'It was the best game I have played but I still want to uplift my standard more, as well as my consistency. It is no good me now having a bad game, so it is important.'

Ince spent a frustrating spell on the sidelines after the arrival of Ben Williams, who was given the keeper's shirt by Gradi at the start of the season.

But Williams went down with injury and Ince grabbed his chance at the start of November. He says the competition for the place created by the fit-again Williams is good for everyone.

He added: 'Ben is a young and aspiring keeper and the challenge is good. The competition should keep us both at our best and that should help the team.

'I had to keep plugging away and working hard until I got the opportunity. I knew that someday I would be called on. Now I am looking to stay here for the rest of the season.'
