Kyle McIvorRobert Morris University and Monmouth played to a 2-2 tie in Northeast Conference men's soccer action Sunday afternoon. The Colonials move to 2-8-2 and 0-1-1 in conference play while the Hawks see their record go to 7-2-2 and 1-0-1 in the NEC.

Senior midfielder Tyler Stanley (Kalispell, Mont. / Columbia Falls) set up each of the Colonials goals, including the first in the 37th minute. Stanley’s cross from the right side found the head of junior Kyle McIvor (Diego Martin, Trinidad / Queen’s Royal College) who found space inside the near post for his first marker of the season.

RMU took a 2-0 lead in the 54th minute with Stanley again providing the assist. This time junior Sean Riley (Kalispell, Mont. / Flathead) found himself on the end a Stanley corner kick and headed the ball to the far post.

Monmouth’s RJ Allen cut the margin to 2-1 in the 73rd minute and just five minutes later, Ryan Kinne provided the equalizer on Allen’s assist.

Neither team would find the gamewinner in overtime.

Monmouth held a slim 13-11 advantage in shots and a 6-4 margin in corner kicks. Senior goalkeeper Matt Felice (Mississauga, Ontario / Phillip Pocock) tallied five saves while Monmouth’s Bryan Meredith stopped three shots.

The Colonials host St. Francis (N.Y.) Friday, October 17, in a 4:00 p.m. kick-off at North Athletic Complex.
