The University of Charleston opened its first contest at Triana Field versus Bluefield College (VA) Thursday evening with a 7-1 victory.

The Golden Eagles were provided with goals by sophomore forwards Dion Peters (4 goals) and Darko Karamatic (2 goals). Freshman Jordan Rose scored the 7th goal of the match with a volley off of a Bluefield bad clearance. Charleston (1-0-0) begins regional play on Monday at 4:30 pm when California (PA) comes to Triana Field. Cal PA is coming off of a 5-3 victory over WVIAC opponent Alderson Broaddus.

“It will be a great test for us early in the season to see how we stand at this point. Cal Pa is an excellent program coming off of an appearance in the NCAA National Tournament in 2008,” Coach Duernberger stated. The Golden Eagles will continue to look towards their scoring ways in this early season battle. UC opens up conference play on Wednesday September 2nd when they travel to Alderson Broaddus.
