Davenport posted its second straight shutout today with a 2-0 victory over Siena Heights. The win, combined with a Madonna tie, lifts DU into the WHAC Tournament for the 5th straight year as DU will be the 4th seed in the 4-team tourney.

After a few combinations from the rest of the conference, DU was able to sew up their 5th straight appearance in the conference tournament today with the 2-0 win over Siena Heights.

DU got things started early against the Saints when Ricco Mulero (Grand Rapids, Mich.) scored his first goal of his career in the 8th minute on a pass from Damian Goncalves (South Africa).

The remainder of the first half became even tougher as the windy conditions continued but when DU switched ends, the offense then peppered the Siena keeper and the Panthers broke through with a goal from Gerard John-Williams (Trinidad & Tobago) to ice the game.

James Gilpin played the first half in net while Kevin O'Brien finished the game as they combined for three saves on the day. Gilpin got the credit for the win and he improves to 6-7 on the year.

Davenport now has 15 points on the year which puts them three ahead of Madonna for the final spot and the Panthers host the Crusaders on Wednesday at 3:00 PM. Even if Madonna would win the game, thus resulting in a tie in points, DU would still hold the tie-breaker as the Panthers defeated WHAC #1 Aquinas earlier in the year while MU dropped both of their games with AQ.

The Semifinals for the WHAC Tournament are scheduled for Saturday, November 7 and DU will play at Aquinas College. A time has yet to be determined.
