Senior Stephen Knox of the Boston University men's soccer team has been nominated for America East Fans' Choice Player of the Year, the conference announced Friday.

Voting for the award will go until 12 p.m. on Tuesday (Nov. 1). The winner will be announced that afternoon via release at AmericaEast.com.

Last season as a First Team All-Conference honoree, Knox led BU with six assists, while Aaron O'Neal and Ben Berube provided the scoring with a combined 16 goals. With preseason All-American midfielder Michael Bustamante suffering a season-ending injury last spring, O'Neal graduating back in May and Berube dealing with nagging injuries all season, Knox stepped up as the team captain and provided the leadership on and off the field his senior year to help BU (9-7, 5-1 AE) sit in first place with one game remaining.

Currently with 11 points (5g, 1a), he opened the year with two goals for the 2-0 victory at Holy Cross and later scored the game winner against then-No. 22 Providence and Vermont. Over the last two games, he assisted on the first goal in a 2-1 win against Albany and followed with a score against New Hampshire.

Leading BU with 42 shots and 24 attempts on goal this season, Knox currently has 13 career goals and 12 assists for 38 points.
