The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism today launched a charter for football fans for the upcoming friendly international between this country’s Men’s Senior Team and Argentina in Buenos Aires on June 4th.
Following discussions with the Ministry of Tourism, it was announced at a press briefing today at the TTFA offices, Hasely Crawford Stadium that local fans will have the opportunity to travel with the national team on June 1st to Buenos Aires. Nissi Tours is the official tour operator for this trip.
At the press briefing, TTFA Director of Communications Shaun Fuentes announced the details of the package which are as follows :
- Roundtrip to Buenos Aires, departing Port of Spain at 1am on June 1st, returning on June 5th
- Four nights accommodation inclusive of Breakfast at the Etoile Hotel, Recoleta, Buenos Aires
- City Tour
- Access to view National Team training sessions
- Category 1 Match ticket
- Ground Transportation
- Fan pack
- Cost TT$16,000 (based on double occupancy)
Single occupancy will cost an additional US$200 for the four nights at the nearby Marriot Hotel.
“This is a historical development for the TTFA as we’ve never had a charter for local fans to travel with the national team to witness a match of this nature. We’ve had charters in the past but only for competitive matches such as World Cup qualifiers,” Fuentes said.
“This came to fruit following discussions with the Ministry of Tourism and Tourism Minister Gerald Hadeed who have been very receptive to the idea of promoting the brand Trinidad and Tobago on the global market using sport and moreso football as an avenue. The TTFA is extremely grateful to Tourism and the Ministry of Sport for their ongoing support towards football in Trinidad and Tobago,” Fuentes added.
It was mentioned that just over one hundred packages are available to fans
The match will be played at the Estadio Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires, located a mere 20 minutes from the Etoile Hotel where the T&T team and fans will be based. The Estadio Monumental is the home stadium for River Plate and has a capacity of 67,000.
The Etoile Hotel is located in Recoleta which is known for a most traditional, elegant, and safe area of Buenos Aires. The Recoleta neighborhood is surrounded by museums, historical buildings and magnificent parks, the best restaurants, shopping areas, and it is near the main convention centers.
