Port Vale are proudly flying the flag of Trinidad and Tobago in honour of their two internationals Chris Birchall and Hector Sam. The flags of the Caribbean nation and England have been presented to the club by the Vale Volunteers Group, and are flying above the main reception at Vale Park in preparation for the World Cup in June when the two countries meet.

Visa delays have forced Sydney FC to drop plans to sign Trinidad & Tobago international striker Kevin Nelson. Sydney coach Pierre Littbarski was lining up Nelson as a replacement signing for injured forward David Zdrilic, but the week-long delay over visa paperwork scuppered the deal.

"I called [Michael] Hitchcock and Colin [Clarke] today to let them know I would be leaving FC Dallas and exploring other opportunities in the coaching and moving on in the soccer world.
