CENTRAL FC will have to wait a little longer before making their Digicel Pro League debut, since their scheduled encounter against W Connection today has been cancelled.

The newly-formed Central FC, under English-born coach Graham Rix, featured in the First Citizens Cup last month but were due to play their Round One Match Day One opener against Connection at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.

But, in a media release, the League explained that the game “will be rescheduled to a further date on the request of the TTFF (Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation) to facilitate preparations for the Caribbean Cup.”

However, the First Citizens Cup Final between reigning champs Caledonia AIA and Defence Force is still on the cards, to take place on Friday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo from 8.30 pm.

With regards to the Caribbean Cup, Trinidad and Tobago, in Group Five, will be facing French Guyana (October 10), Anguilla (October 12) and hosts St Kitts/Nevis (October 14) at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts.

The winners from each of the five groups along with the runners-up from Groups One to Three will advance to the second round while the best runner-up from either Group Four or Group Five also will advance.

The second round will comprise three groups of four teams with Grenada, Guadeloupe and Cuba seeded in one of the groups.

The top two teams from each second-round group will advance to the finals from December 3-16 in Antigua/Barbuda with the host nation and two-time defending champion Jamaica. Four teams will qualify for next year’s CONCACAF Gold Cup.
