Struggling is an under-statement—but the Defending League Champions National Quarries North East Stars are not giving up.

The Sangre Grande Stars have found life extremely difficult, as they have not been able to play with the consistency required this season.

The ‘Stars’ currently lie in 5th place on the standings on 16 points—20 points adrift of run away leaders W Connection, and at this stage it seems near impossible for the boys from Sangre Grande to mount a serious challenge to defend their title.

However, the ‘Stars’ head coach Jimmy Mc Lean is a determined and optimistic character—and he told ttproleague.com, “I am not willing to throw in the towel just yet, its too soon, you never say die until you are dead.”

“I am hopeful that the likes of Jabloteh and Defence Force play their part in slowing down Connection and give us an outside chance to fight our way back to the top. It’s not going to be easy but we will be giving it our all,” added Mc clean.

North East have experienced some trying times this season, having to sack 5 of their top players, and Coach Mc lean admitted they are in the rebuilding stage.

The Guyanese born coach said, “I am currently looking for at least 2 more players—guys who wants to come and give their all for North East Stars, but I have confidence in my team and I sincerely believe we have what it takes to rebound.”

Mr. Mclean, was quick to give kudos to leaders W Connection.
