Police FC and 2010-2011 Digicel Pro League champions Defence Force completed the quarterfinal line-up in the Toyota Classic quarterfinal after contrasting round-of-16 victories over St Ann’s Rangers and Defence Force (Super League) teams respectively on Saturday night.

In the first of a double-header at the Larry Gomes Stadium, first-half goals by Jason Boodram (13th minute) and Todd Ryan (25th minute) gave the Lawmen a good cushion to later hold on for a 2-1 win after Rangers’ Bryant Constantine pulled a goal back in the 66th minute.

In the second contest Defence Force Pro League outfit showed their is life after striker Devon Jorsling (transfer to US Soccer League club Orlando City) with a 3-0 shut-out of its Super League counterpart with a 3-0 win.

The Teteron Boys will now meet DirecTV North East Stars in one of Tuesday’s four quarterfinal match while Police comes up against Joe Public Super League outfit—the only advancing Super League team after edging out defending champs and senior club-mates Joe Public (Pro League) 1-0 on Friday night.

Midfielder Sean Narcis of the Defence Force Pro League club put his team ahead 1-0 by the 22nd minute when he headed past goalkeeper Kerwin Beckles off Corey Rivers’ corner from the right.

The Super League outfit didn’t collapse and continued a strong battle. Three minutes after the break goalkeeper Kevin Graham was forced into action pushing out a 22 yard freekick strike by Kayode Thomas.

And on the other end in the 53rd Javon Neptune’s decent shot on target was measured by a wonderful one-handed save by Beckles.

But in the 54th minute Richard Roy blasted in a low shot from the resulting corner and with a slight deflection left Beckles beaten for a 2-0 cushion for the Ross Russell coached outfit.

The Pro League side then completed its 3-0 win in the 75th minute when teenage winger Jemel Seabro made no mistake from inside the area beating Beckles after a fine string of passes by the Russell coached team.
