DIRECTV North East Stars enjoyed a boat ride on Friday morning with its destination Tobago for practice matches against Bertille St. Clair Coaching School and Stokely Vale Football Club.

According to the Sangre Grande based professional club, it was difficult to arrange practice matches with the limited State of Emergency in effect in Trinidad.

The Stars will take on St. Clair from 4:30pm at the Dwight Yorke Stadium on Friday and Stokely Vale on Sunday at the same time and venue as the club prepares for the 2011-2012 Digicel Pro League season which begins on Friday 9 September.

The exercise in Tobago is also a team building one before returning to Trinidad on Monday.

T&T U23 midfielder Jeromie Williams, one of last season’s standout at North East, is the only Tobago born player to travel with a 13-man squad.

It’s the first time the Castara resident will play in front of home fans since joining the Stars last season.

Goalkeepers Leon Gordon, Aaron Ali and Andrew Durant made the trip along with Glenton Wolfe, Kevaughn Connell, Ishmael Daniel, Stephen Cruickshank, Kevin Jagdeosingh, Kaydion Gabriel, Akiel Guevara, Marc Leslie and Gary Glasgow.

While Stern John, Seon Power, Anthony Wolfe and pursued Darryl Roberts are with the T&T National Team for back to back World Cup qualifiers against Bermuda on Friday 2 September at the Hasely Crawford Stadium and Barbados on September 6 in Bridgetown.
