FORMER CHAMPIONS San Juan Jabloteh and W Connection will both be eyeing spots in the Final of the 2011 First Citizens Cup competition, when the Semi-Final double-header takes place at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo today.

With Joe Public unable to defend their crown due to their absence from the 2011-2012 Pro League season, Jabloteh and Connection are tipped to advance to the October 14 decider.

Both teams were successful in their quarter-final Group Phase - Jabloteh topped Group “A” with a 2-1 win over St Ann’s Rangers and a 4-4 draw against TTEC while Connection strolled to victory in their two Group “B” fixtures - 4-2 versus Caledonia AIA and 4-1 over North East Stars.

At 5 pm, Jabloteh will be squaring off against Caledonia AIA while, two hours later, Connection will be facing newcomers TTEC.

And a number of players will be using today’s games as a final chance to impress national coach Otto Pfister before the back-to-back World Cup qualifiers, away to Bermuda on October 7 and at home to Barbados on October 11.

The players who are currently in training for the World Cup matches include Hughtun Hector, Jerrel Britto, Shahdon Winchester, Mikeil Williams (Connection), Andrei Pacheco and the Adams brothers Akini and Akeem (TTEC).
