TOP OF the table, Barrackpore United maintained an assailable lead when they trounced runners-up Manahambre United 5-0, as the Barrackpore Football League recently continued over the weekend.

The tournament’s top goal-scorer, Teba McKnight and Nigel Davis both netted twice while Andy London slotted home the fifth to seal victory.

Third placed, St Charles United also dropped points when eighth spot AKA FC clinched a crucial 2-1 win.

AKA FC’s Chris Modeste and Shurland Fletcher scored one each while Barry Carrington (St Charles) netted once. This was a significant blunder for St Charles since a victory would have seen them move into second position.

Kendall Brown also netted his second hat-trick of the season when fourth placed Strange Ville United slammed six past Real Unity SC (6-0). Shirvan Sankar, Kelyn Lynch and Vish Dass also contributed to the emphatic win, scoring one each. Real Unity SC are now tenth in the standings.

In the other matches, Diamond United shot into fifth position after an 11-0 thrashing of tenth placed Lower Barrackpore Angels.

The lone Knockout match played saw Golconda United get sweet revenge against Clark Rochard with a nail biting 4-3 result on penalty kicks.
