Team captain Ryan Stewart scored the match winner with ten minutes remaining to lead Guaya United to its fifth consecutive victory in the blink/bmobile National Super League, yesterday, this time with a 1–0 triumph over the struggling defending champion WASA FC.

In contrast to each other, Guaya, which was recently promoted from the Eastern Counties Football Union, won all but one match for the season with the only points dropped on the opening day via a goalless draw with Joe Public. On the other hand, WASA, which only won its second ever NSL league title last season, has been unable to find a win in any of its six matches to date.

The match was played simultaneously with Club Sando’s come-from-behind 2–1 win over Westside Superstarz, at St Anthony’s College Ground, which saw the former team remain joint top of the standings with Guaya, with five wins and a draw.

Keron Cummings scored the opener for Westside in the seventh minute, before Kenuel Rivers cancelled out the effort with a 34th minute goal for the visitors. Then, with less than ten minutes left in the fixture, Club Sando stole all three points courtesy of Teba Mc Knight’s third goal in as many matches.

Meanwhile, Joe Public, the 2011/2012 treble winner which failed to find a win in its opening three matches, won its second straight match with a 4–0 victory over Bethel United. Ellis Dyett and Kevern DeBellott both scored in successive matches, while Arvid Applewhile and Rashad Griffith scored the other goals.
