Club Sando, a team which has led the blink/bmobile National Super League standings for most of the campaign, will have the opportunity to return to the top, today, when it meets Guaya United, the only team it lost to in league competition all season.

The match, the only NSL fixture scheduled for today, will kick off at 7 pm, at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.

A win for Club Sando, which sits second on goal difference behind Malabar FC, give it a clear lead once again and will see the club finish its outstanding fixtures. Both Malabar (19 matches) and Club Sando (18 matches) currently sit on 45 points, while Guaya trails in third with 37 points after 16 matches played.

Club Sando will be seeking to overturn the 3-1 loss it suffered to the same Guaya outfit back in October. Calvin Lopez, Carlon Hughes and Jodi Allsop scored Guaya’s goals while Devon Modeste got Club Sando’s only item.

No other team, apart from the three clubs which currently occupy the first to third places stand a chance of winning the league title. Most other clubs will now have their sights on the relegation battle, which will close with a demotion of three teams.

On Sunday, second-from-bottom and ironically the league’s reigning champion WASA will take the trip to O’Meara, where it will face home-team and last placed, FC Santa Rosa. that match will kick off at 4 pm, along with two other fixtures.

Bethel United, which sits in the top relegation spot- 10th, will clash with 1976 FC Phoenix, in a Tobago derby, at Canaan, Bon Accord, at the same time, while mid-table Real Maracas hosts the third Tobago outfit, Stokely Vale, a team seemingly safe from relegation, at Maracas, St Joseph.

The late clash will see Siparia Spurs, two points off the relegation zone host Westside Superstarz (22 points), at the Palo Seco Velodrome, from 5.30 pm.
