MARIO KISSOON registered a hat-trick as WASA thrashed ‘D’ Lime Bar Goal City 6-1 on Saturday at Match Day Nine of the National Super League took place.
At the Plymouth Recreation Ground, Kissoon found the back of the net in the 33rd, 45th and 60th minutes. Dorian Daniel notched a pair, in the 16th and 60th, while Glen Walker got the other item in the 25th.
Kerlon Ferguson got the consolation strike for the cellar-placed Goal City, in the 36th.
WASA remained in second spot, five points adrift of leaders Club Sando, who earned a hard-fought 3-2 win over FC Santa Rosa at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.
Jack Weedon put Sando in front after six minutes had elapsed, but Rashad Griffith tied the scores three minutes later. Weedon restored Sando’s lead on the stroke of half-time but Santa Rosa equalised again, through Javon Rochford, in the 75th.
However, there was one more twist to the tale, as Devon Drayton scored the winner, in the penultimate minute of regulation time.
Defending champs Guaya United fell to a 2-1 loss to mid-table outfit Defence Force at the Macqueripe Youth Camp in Chaguaramas.
Javon Neptune got both goals for Defence Force, in the 10th and 29th minutes, while Shavon Campbell pulled one back for Guaya in the 72nd.
Also on Saturday, NLCB La Horquetta SA spanked Coosal’s Las Lomas United 4-1 at the Madras Recreation Ground in Cunupia while Siparia squeezed past hosts Petrotrin Palo Seco 1-0 at the Palo Seco Velodrome.
There will be a pair of rescheduled contests tomorrow, starting at 5 pm, with Stokelyvale hosting La Horquetta at Plymouth while 1976 FC Phoenix will be making the inter-island trip to face Real Maracas at the Maracas Recreation Ground in St Joseph.
There will also be a Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) FA Trophy qualifier tomorrow with Siparia meeting Las Lomas at the Fyzabad Recreation Ground from 3.30 pm.
