CUNUPIA FC overtook the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) for the top spot in the National Super League Championship Division recently.

Cunupia got past TT Prisons 2-0 while Petit Valley/Diego Martin United FC shocked UTT 3-2. As a result, Cunupia have a total of 19 points, one more than UTT, with Barrackpore United and Central 500 Spartans trailing.

At the Youth Training Centre (YTC) Ground in Arouca, Cunupia FC were reliant on goals from Gorean Highley (10th minute) and Michael Yaw Darko (43rd) to get full points against Prisons. Petit Valley/Diego Martin United needed a double from Samuel Delice (25th and 56th) and one from Eric Charles (fourth) to register their second win of the season.

Isaiah Mejias (22nd) and Weah Adams (52nd) replied for UTT. Youth Stars registered one of the most lopsided results of the season, as they humiliated Carenage United 8-1 at the Dibe Recreation Ground in Long Circular, St James. Hakeem Legall (eighth, 82nd and 88th) notched a hat-trick, while Jelani Mitchell (13th and 83rd) contributed a double.

An own goal (10th), Henson Charles (38th) and Ackeel Sterling (79th) added to Carenage’s misery. Clint Williams got the consolation item for the hosts in the 33rd. Another struggling outfit, Saddle Hill Hotspur, earned a come-from-behind 3-1 win over Barrackpore United at the Pascal Recreation Ground in Maraval. Mikheil Peters put Barrackpore in front after four minutes but Saddle Hill replied with a pair from Cyrano Glen (49th and 67th) and a strike from Hakeem King (82nd).
