Photo: Anthony Harris.T&TEC will meet Economy Strikers in the final of the 2009 bmobile National Super League Knockout on Friday. The two teams pulled off wins over the Defence Force and Queen’s Park Cricket Club, respectively in the semi-finals on Friday evening in a double-header at the Queen’s Park Oval, St. Clair.

In the first match, Strikers claimed a 3-2 win on penalty kicks over last year’s beaten finalist, Defence Force, after the scoreline read 2-2 at the end of regulation time.

logoThe Strikers broke the deadlock in the 14th minute with a Kern Cummings strike. The Army, however, drew level five minutes later as Kayode Thomas found the net, 1-1, which remained unchanged at the half. Six minutes into the second half, the soldiers took the lead with a goal from Akiel Pierre, but the Economy team would strike back, with Quacy Johnson netting in the 53rd.

The second match saw the electricty company claiming a come from behind 4-1 win over the host. Jason Charles put QPCC ahead in the 28th minute, as he converted a penalty. The “Parkites”, would hold onto the lead until the 59th minute, when Jamal Ayers scored the utility’s first goal to open the flood gates. Sylvester Teesdale gave his team a 2-1 advantage, with a 62nd minute strike. It then became 3-1 in the 81st minute as Brenton DeLeon got into the action, before Kefim Williams sealed the issue two minutes from regulation time to make it 4-1.
