Jack Warner, special advisor to the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation has made a special plea for the Government, the Business sector, the TTFF and the people of Trinidad and Tobago to make a collective effort to ensure that the players and officials of the National Team have the best environment for the upcoming playoff with Bahrain for a place in next year’s World Cup in Germany.

Furthermore, Warner says all must be done to see that T&T’s success in qualifying for Germany 2006 leads to the establishment of a foundation that for success to follow in years to come.

Warner issued the statement from New York where he arrived at on Thursday night on FIFA and CONCACAF football related business. He has cancelled other overseas trips in order to return to Trinidad next week to put arrangements in place for T&T’s qualifying match against Bahrain on November 12.

The meeting between Minister of Sport Roger Boynes and the TTFF, led by President Oliver Camps, has been rescheduled from Monday to Wednesday October 19, 2005 in order for Warner to also attend in his capacity as Special Advisor to the TTFF and Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee 2006.

Warner wished to clear to air regarding the use of the Hasely Crawford Stadium by the National team and the support given to the National team regarding air travel.

“It's the Professional Football League which has been given $7.5 million and free and unlimited use of the football stadia in the country, courtesy the Minister of Sport and not the World Cup team,” Warner stated.

“I also wish to thank the Minister for having assisted with the payment of $141,000 for the chartered flight for the National team to arrive in T&T from Panama earlier on Sunday last but I do wish to advise him that before the players could have returned from Panama they had to first arrive there and they did at a cost of $784.000 all of which was paid by me,” Warner said.

Minister of Sport Roger Boynes did say on Friday that the TTFF will be reimbursed for payments made to the Hasely Crawford Stadium for use of the venue. (Figures listed in attachment as provided by Warner).

Warner added to TTFF Media: “The list can go on and on but as I have said no useful purpose will be served by this exercise. Yesterday, I renewed Mr Beenhakker and the other two coaches' contract for another month. We have all seen the results of their efforts.”

Warner, in responding to Boynes’ revelations on Friday, said “I simply want to congratulate Minister Boynes for what he has said.”

Warner, a former TTFF General Secretary,  ended by again making a plea for a unified approach to ensure the country gets to Germany.

“We are this close to realizing the big dream. Let us therefore put our heads together - The Government, Business, the TTFF and the people of Trinidad & Tobago - and let us work together so as to produce the best environment for our players and officials and, in doing so, let us ensure not only Trinidad & Tobago's success in qualifying for Germany 2006 but also the establishment of a foundation that will make future successes of a similar nature possible,” Warner ended.
