Three schools across T&T will get their first taste of action this season, when match day two kicks off in the BGTT Secondary Schools Football League, in the North, East, South and Tobago Zones.

All matches will kick off from 3.45 pm. Today, the Central Zone will be the only one out of action and will return, along with all teams for Saturday’s match day three.

It is not the ideal opener for Diego Martin North Secondary, which scraped out of relegation last season. Diego Martin meets reigning Coca-Cola InterCol champion St Anthony’s College.

The Tigers, off a 3-0 win at home to Fatima College, last Saturday, has already signalled its intention to challenge for all major titles this season.

St Anthony’s kicked off its campaign last Thursday with a narrow 5-4 loss to reigning SSFL Big-Five champion Carapichaima East Secondary, albeit with the team opting to start without several of its top players.

They returned three days later for its opening North Zone fixture, to hand Fatima a humbling defeat, courtesy of goals from Kadeem Corbin, Kwesi Allen and Trevin Latapy.

Diego Martin, which was saved from relegation with a win over East Mucurapo in the final league match last year, incredibly reached to the final of the North Zone InterCol, where it met none other than St Anthony’s College.

On that day, Diego Martin appeared to save its best for last, but it wasn’t enough to produce one of the league’s historic upsets. St Anthony’s won the final 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw at full time.

In the East Zone, Trinity East will play its first match when it meets El Dorado East. The two teams finished on the lower half of the East Zone standings last season.

On Friday, El Dorado East suffered a 2-0 loss to St Augustine. Today, reigning league champion Arima North will host St Augustine, in Arima. The match is a replay of last year’s InterCol zonal final, which went in the way of St Augustine, via a 1-0 win.

Down South, Princes Town, which was on a bye for the opening round will host newly-promoted Mayaro Secondary. Meanwhile, Presentation College, winner of every league match last season, and winner of its 2013 league opener against Naparima College (2-0), will travel to Pleasantville.

Pleasantville suffered a 2-0 defeat by Mayaro, on Friday. Finally, in Tobago, which has increased the number of teams to eight this season, defending league champion Scarborough will meet Roxbough. Scarborough is off a 2-0 win over Mason Hall, last Friday, while Roxborough opened with a 2-1 loss to newly-promoted Bishop’s High.

Bishop’s High is among the three new teams to join the Championship Division. The others are Goodwood Secondary and Pentecostal Light and Life. Pentecostal L&L and Mason Hall are on a bye and will be back in action on Saturday.
