AFTER ten years of secondary school football matches being held at Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella, the games will once again return to Skinner Park, San Fernando.

Manny Ramjohn Stadium, the popular venue for the sport, is undergoing major refurbishment work.

Today the BGTT Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) South Zone will begin at 3 p.m.

St. Benedict's College will take on Shiva Boys Hindu College in the first game while Presentation College, San Fernando will tackle Naparima College in the second game that begins at 5 p.m.

San Fernando Mayor, Dr Navi Muradali will address players and supporters at the games.

In a press release issued yesterday he said: "It is great to have secondary school football return to Skinner Park after a long absence from the ground as it will bring back memories for those of us who were accustomed to supporting the league and intercol in the park.

The ground staff at Skinner Park have worked tirelessly to get the ground up to match-playing conditions and remedial work was also done recently to improve the facilities."

On Wednesday Gerard Elliot, secretary and treasurer of the SSFL South Zone, met with Muradali and agreed to play some of the league and intercol games at Skinner Park.

Elliot said it was easy for many persons to get access to Skinner Park and it was " good for the schools around the city to get home support."
