San Juan Secondary stayed unbeaten in the East Zone of the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) when they trampled St George's College 13-0 at their Bourg Mulatresse ground yesterday.

The current zonal leaders are on nine points and reached there thanks to a remarkable seven-goal effort from striker Jonathan Romain. Kadeem Gibbs scored two while there was one item each from captain Elijah Manners, Anthony Guppy, Dwayne Roberts and Berhane Beckles.

Defending zonal champs St Augustine, smarting from a surprise 3-2 loss to Hillview College over the weekend, bounced back with a 4-0 trouncing of league newcomers Malabar Composite at Warren Street.

And El Dorado Senior Compreh-ensive got the better of Hillview 2-0 to stay in second spot on seven points.

Matthew Bartho-lomew scored a double in the 80th and 85th minutes to give St Benedict's a 2-0 win over Moruga as action in the South Zone of the SSFL continued at Manny Ramjohn Stadium, yesterday

Benedict's, Vessigny and defending champions Naparima are all on five points. However, Naparima are in first spot since they have scored more goals than the other two.

Yesterday, after 79 minutes of football and with the game seemingly headed for a draw, Bartholomew found himself in a good position, just six metres out, capitalising on a defensive blunder to blast past Moruga keeper Kenton Duval.

Five minutes later, Benedict's went two goals up after one of their strikers was brought down in the area and a penalty was awarded. Bartho-lomew stepped up to slot his right-footer to the low left hand corner of Duval's net

Up at Princes Town, the hosts and defending zonal champions Naparima battled to a 1-1 draw, while as guests, Vessigny played to a goalless draw with Mayaro.
