Speyside High School and Trinity College East advanced to the semi final of the Coca Cola InterCol yesterday after recording victories over Pentecostal Light and Life and Five Rivers Secondary.

At Mt Pleasant in the sister isle of Tobago, the Tobago Championship Division winners signalled a warning to opponents in the semis by demolishing Pentecostal Light and Life 8-0, courtesy the commanding performances of under-14 standouts Deleon Beckles who scored a double and Nicholas Sanchez, who added one in the victory.

However their performances were overshadowed by a hat-trick from Kerri Mc Donald, continuing his goalscoring touch that earned them promotion to the Premier Division next season. His three goals were followed by single items from Cel Toppin and Dillon Beckles.

At the El Dorado East Secondary, Trinity College also benefited from a hat-trick from Liam Burns in thrashing Five Rivers 5-0. Having been beaten on the two occasions the teams met in the championship division, Five Rivers produced little resistance as Trinity got two more goals to seal the win from Christian Ransome and Dwight Yorke to confirm their spot in the semis to be played next week.

St Augustine Secondary also booked a place in the semis by hammering Toco 10-0 at the Henry Street Recreation Ground Arouca. A hat-trick from Anthony Samuels and a double from Kenton James spearheaded their win.

St Augustine, known as the ‘Green Machine’ were rampant through-out the encounter and confirmed the victory with Rahim Gordon, Zion Holder, Ryan Phillips and Akeem Hosten’s goals.
