Fatima recorded their second win in as many games when they beat CIC 3-0 as action continued in the BG TT Secondary Schools Football League in Mucurapo yesterday.
Twenty-four minutes into the game, however, Fatima opened the scoring after a scramble for possession at the mouth of CIC’s goal resulted in a half volley by the home team’s Chad De Freitas that was solid enough to reach its target.
Henceforth, the intensity increased steadily as each team looked to exploit the weaknesses in the opposition’s defense. The young players’ willingness to sacrifice themselves resulted in a few casualties during the first half.
CIC skipper, Veer Lakhan-Joseph consistently threatened to even the score though his efforts would eventually go without reward. Five minutes before the interval, Fatima’s Kadeem Drayton eventually penetrated CIC’s defense within the box and earned himself enough room to finish the play efficiently and without fuss.
Going into the second half, Fatima kept the pressure on high while CIC were lucky to receive a pardon when an offside call put a premature end to the home team’s third goal celebrations.
Although, Jardine stepped up to the challenge several times, it was not enough to keep the free flow of the Fatima offense at bay. It came as no surprise when, in the 70th minute, Chislon Richardson skillfully deflected a free kick from close range beyond Jardine’s reach for an overdue third goal.
