Carapichaima continued their 100 percent run in the Central Zone of the BGTT Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) yesterday, with a 6-1 battering of hosts Chaguanas.
The other Central Zone contest saw a pair of mid-table outfits, Preysal and Presentation Chaguanas, battle to an entertaining 3-3 draw at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.
Another undefeated team, Napar-ima, continue their quest to retain their South Zone crown with a 2-1 victory over hosts Princes Town.
Second-placed Vessigny edged Pleasantville 1-0 at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella while the encounter between hosts Siparia and Presentation San Fernando did not play.
Mucurapo kept up the pace atop the North Zone standings with a comfortable 2-0 victory over St Mary’s at the Fatima Ground, while Fatima moved up to second position after whipping hosts Trinity College 3-1 at Moka.
But the day’s shocking result occurred at the QRC Ground as the hosts fell 1- 0 to Malick. The visitors moved up the foot of the standings after registering their first win in nine matches. After their shock 2-1 loss to El Dorado, defending East Zone title-holders San Juan unleashed their fury on Hillview, as they demolished the Tunapuna- based squad 9-0 at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Tunapuna.
The “Dial Dynamos” Arima stayed in second spot after edging Toco 3-2 at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima while the “Green Machine” St Augustine pipped hosts “Blue Thunder” El Dorado 1-0.
The last unbeaten team left in the SSFL, Signal Hill, regained the lead in the Tobago Zone after edging last-placed Speyside 3-2 at Bon Accord. And Scarbo-rough climbed to second place after mauling Roxborough 5-0 at Dwight Yorke Stadium’s Training Ground in Bacolet. One rescheduled North Zone match will take place tomorrow with Trinity hosting St Anthony’s. And action in all five zones will resume on Saturday.
San Juan go clear in SSFL East Zone.

Mucurapo exacted revenge in the form of a 2-0 victory over St Mary's College in the North Zone of the BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League yesterday at Fatima Ground, Mucurapo Road, to stretch their lead atop the standings.
Defending East Zone kings San Juan Secondary Comprehensive and Central's Carapichaima Senior Comprehensive, as well as Naparima in the South Zone, each recorded wins to stride closer to wrapping up their respective zones.
St Mary's were the only team to have defeated Mucurapo this season and they may have fancied their chances to do so again away to "Compre", even though regular goalkeeper Matthew Jardim had his name struck off the starting list due to injury, while their second-string custodian broke a finger on his left hand during their warm-up. But it was not to be.
St Mary's enjoyed the better of the first 20 minutes of so, with captain Veer Lakhan-Joseph, in particular, bringing the ball in from the left to give Michael Duff in the Mucurapo goal a few nervous moments.
Chislon Richardson also had a header on Duff's near post that whizzed by, and only just.
But "Compre" looked like wolves on the hunt, attacking in numbers, and were always dangerous coming forward.
Mutar Taylor, Terrence Clarke and Johan Peltier all took aim at St Mary's stand-in goalie Raheem Belgrave, who kept out all that came to him in the first half.
He could do nothing, though, about Mucurapo's first goal in the second minute after the half-time break.
Mucurapo skipper Kevin Molino placed his free-kick expertly for Taylor, and Belgrave, perhaps due to inexperience, allowed the ball to drop left of the near post.
Taylor's brilliant effort to head the ball downwards assured it settled nicely in the net and Compre were off the mark.
From there, the "Saints" lost their fight and their front line and midfield seemed unable to threaten the Mucurapo defence, save for a few wayward set plays that could have brought them back into the game.
"Compre, we want a goal!" their fans chanted in anticipation of a winner. And Peltier obliged to put the result beyond doubt, squeezing the loose ball into the near post off Belgrave's parry after Taylor missed a pass across the face of goal.
This victory, together with QRC's slip-up at home to Malick-where they became the Morvant-based team's first victims this season in a 1-0 loss-places Mucurapo five points clear on the standings, while Fatima College eased back into second place ahead of QRC with a 3-1 away beating of Trinity College.
In the South, "Naps" kept up winning ways, edging Princes Town 2-1, while Carapichaima need one more win to claim the Central Zone after a big 6-0 victory over Chaguanas Senior Comprehensive.
San Juan thrashed Hillview 9-0 to get back on track for defending their East crown, while El Dorado Secondary Comprehensive slipped up to increase the likelihood of a San Juan success.
