North Zone Round-Up

CIC Top North Zone: Woodbrook 0 - 3 St Mary's

‘The Saints’ go top of the North Zone when they scored three second half goals to run out 3-0 victors over Woodbrook Secondary.

Woodbrook fought gallantly throughout the contest but had no reply after Joel Superville put the visitors in front in the 2nd half.
 
Dillon Kirton added a second goal courtesy of a free kick minutes later, and Chad Appoo sealed the victory for St Mary's.

CIC now have 13 points, 1 point above rivals QRC and Fatima.

Woodbrook remain on the bottom of the North Zone with 1 point.

Tigers heating up, Fatima sliding: Fatima 1 - 2 St Anthony's

St Anthony's College handed their rivals Fatima a 2-1 home defeat at Fatima Grounds and moved into 2nd spot in the process.

The ‘Tigers’ now have 12 points and are just ahead of QRC and Fatima on goal difference.

Cordel Cato opened the scoring for St. Anthony’s College via the penalty spot.

Andrew Tinto equalized for the Fatima College, but Cato was on hand again to grab his second of the game which turned out to be the match winner.

Fatima slipped to 4th position in the North Zone after watching their early lead in the division disappear after a poor run of form.

Compre not out of race: Trinity 0 - 6 Mucurapo

Mucurapo pulled within 3 points of group leaders, CIC after an impressive 6-0 victory over Trinity College.

A double from Kaejay Ramdoo led the way for Mucurapo with Jamal Williams, Alvin Jones, Trevon McIntosh and Timothy Allen also chipping in with goals.

‘Compre’ now sit in 5th place with 10 points in the North Zone, but the title is still up for grabs as only three points separate the top 5 teams.

Trinity College managed to hang on to 6th spot in the North with one point but allow Woodbrook to pull closer thanks to goal difference after the heavy defeat.

North teams get back into action on Saturday 26th September where Fatima will be hoping to bounce back from their 2 consecutive defeats but face a stiff challenge when they attempt to do so against ‘the Royalians’ at QRC Grounds.

Trinity and Woodbrook also face stern tests when they host title-contenders St Anthony's and Mucurapo respectively.

South Zone Round-Up - Match Day 7

Benedict's hold Naps to a draw: St Benedict's 1 - 1 Naparima

The top two teams in South clashed on Tuesday at Guaracara Park, when St Benedict's met Naparima and held the league leaders to a 1-1 draw. Shahdon Winchester continued his fine goal scoring form as he found the back of the net for Naparima with Troy Moses scoring for St Benedict's. Naparima stay top of the South Zone with the result on 14 points while St Benedict's slump to 3rd, 3 points behind Naparima and just behind their rivals, Presentation College on goal difference.

Presentation signal their intent: Presentation 5 - 0 Vessigny

Presentation destroyed Vessigny by 5-0 on Tuesday at Guaracara Park and reminded their South Zone rivals know that they should not be counted out of the South Zone title race as they pull to 2nd in the division thanks to goal difference. They now trail Naparima by 3 points.

Siparia & 'PTown' battle to goalless draw: Siparia 0 - 0 Princes Town

Siparia claim their first point of the 2009 campaign after battling Princes Town to a 0-0 draw at Siparia Grounds on Tuesday. The result leaves Princes Town in 5th spot with 5 points and Siparia still sit in 7th position in the South Zone with 1 point, but pull within 3 points of 6th place Vessigny.

On Saturday 26th September Naparima and Presentation meet in a clash between the top two teams in South while Siparia and Shiva clash in a local derby on the same date and they will do battle for local bragging rights. St Benedict's host Vessigny in the third and final fixture for that date in the South Zone.

East Zone Round-Up - Match Day 7.

Green Machine claim bragging rights: St Augustine 3 - 0 San Juan

St Augustine defeat their rivals and 2008's defending East Zone Champions, San Juan on Wednesday by 3-0 at St Augustine Grounds. Goals from Isaiah Mejias, Jevaughn Vance and Aeion Charles gave the league leaders all 3 points moving them to 18 points from 6 games, and they maintain their 6 point lead in the East Zone standings. San Juan remain in 4th with 8 points but now face an almost impossible task if they are to reclaim the title for 2009.

Birthday boy hero for El Dorado: El Dorado 1 - 0 Sangre Grande

Xavier Ravanales was the hero of the day as scored the game's only goal in El Dorado's crucial 1-0 victory of Sangre Grande on Wednesday at El Dorado Grounds. By scoring on his birthday he moved his team into 2nd spot in the standings and keep them in the hunt for the East Zone title, although they trail leaders, St Augustine, by 6 points midway through the season. Sangre Grande drop to 6th spot with the defeat tied with Toco on 3 points, but ahead on goal difference.

Arima claim first win: Toco 1 - 2 Arima

Arima picked up their first win of the 2009 campaign after an entertaining clash at against Toco on Wednesday at Toco Grounds where they emerged 2-1 winners. Keish Charles scored for the home team but it wasn't enough. Arima move into 5th spot with the victory on 4 points, 1 point ahead of Sangre Grande and Toco. Toco slip from 6th into bottom spot on goal difference.

The top two clash on Saturday 26th September when St Augustine host El Dorado. Also in action are San Juan and Arima at San Juan Grounds with both teams hoping to build on their disappointing 2009 campaigns. 3rd Place Trinity also jump back into the fold when they host Sangre Grande.
