North Zone Round Up.

Mucurapo back on top: Mucurapo 3 - 1 QRC

Defending North Zone Champions, Compre surged to the top of the North Zone after a 3-1 victory over QRC on Wednesday at Fatima Grounds.

Mucurapo were up 3-0 after first half goals from Kaejay Ramdoo and Trevon McIntosh and a second half strike from Jamal Williams. Duane Muckette scored a consolation goal for the visitors.

Mucurapo now lead the North Zone with 16 points, just 1 point ahead of St Anthony's and QRC in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

Woodbrook and Trinity share the points: Woodbrook 1 - 1 Trinity

Things heat up in the North Zone relegation zone as Woodbrook and Trinity had to be content with a point each after Wednesday's match at the Hasley Crawford Training Ground.

The game drew 1-1 with Jameel Neptune scoring for the hometeam. Both teams are now tied at the bottom of the table with 2 points with Woodbrook having the slight edge on goal difference.

Fatima face Woodbrook on Saturday 3rd October when North Zone action resumes. The other 4 teams seeking the North Zone title all face off on the 3rd when rivals QRC and CIC battle at QRC Grounds and St Anthony's get back into action when they host leaders, Mucurapo.

CIC and Fatima in thrilling draw: St Mary's 1 - 1 Fatima

Ten man St Mary's and Fatima drew 1-1 in front of a packed house on Wednesday at CIC Grounds. Despite the low scoreline fans were treated as the game featured end to end action with both teams constantly pushing forward in an evenly matched contest.

Fatima could have taken the lead after just 3 minutes when Anslem Jackson struck a brilliant free kick on target, but CIC's goalkeeper, Raheem Belgrave, at full stretch, just managed to put it out for a corner.

Fatima eventually would take the lead via a free kick, but it would go down as an own goal, after Marvin Baptiste hit a powerful, low drive from the set piece which appeared to be going way off target, but the ball struck the ankle of an unfortunate CIC defender before wrongfooting Belgrave completely and making it's way into the CIC goal.

Neither team could add to their tally before the break despite the game's high tempo. The second half resumed pretty much where the first half ended with both teams continuing to surge from one end of the pitch to the other.

But the fans would have to wait until the 76th minute to see another goal and it was Sergio Braveboy who pulled CIC level after a blunder between Fatima's goalkeeper, John Thomas and a Fatima defender resulted in a loose ball in the penalty area. Braveboy pounced and rode off a challenge before blasting the ball into the empty goal to level the scores.

The celebration was short-lived however as less than a minute after Jason Mendez was sent off for the home team after picking up his second yellow. Both teams continued to carve out opportunities but the goalkeepers were definitely the heroes for both teams as they continued to deny scoring chance after scoring chance.

CIC had the best chance to win in stoppage time when an Appoo corner fell to Dillon Kirton, unmarked in the Fatima 6 yard box, but he uncharacteristically blasted his effort over the bar, much to the relief of the Fatima supporters. CIC slip 1 spot to number 4 in the North, on 14 points. Fatima remain in 5th just 1 point behind.
