St Mary’s College (CIC), the winner of last year’s Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) North Zone and Queen’s Royal College (QRC), last year’s third placed North team, will battle it out in the first-ever T&T Varsity Football Tournament (TTVFT).
The match is set to kick-off at QRC grounds on July 31. The other two teams taking part are El Dorado East Secondary, which finished third in the East Zone but went on to become Intercol champion last year and Central Zone title-holder Carapichaima East Secondary.
The winners will advance to final to play for top honours in the inaugural competition while the losers will playoff for the third and fourth spots.
The competition will also serve as a warm-up for the teams in the upcoming 2010-2011 SSFL season. RED 96.7 will provide radio broadcasting of the event, and Scorch Magazine will be present. Red Bull is one of the event sponsors. Tickets cost $30.
