San Juan Jabloteh and their nearest rivals Water One Real Dimension both won last weekend and will now face each other in a top-of-the-table clash in the Lucky Bakery Women's Football League from 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Barataria Oval.
High-scoring San Juan Jabloteh scored their 54th goal of the season when beating Tunapuna Titans 14-0 on Friday, to maintain their hundred per cent record after six matches.
Meanwhile, local women's club champions Water One Real Dimension (14 points) moved into second place following a comfortable 3-0 victory over Trincity Nationals on Saturday at Barataria Oval. Strikers Alania Burgin and Candice Edwards each got second half goals, while Trincity Nationals contributed an own goal as well. Real Dimension are also unbeaten, having won four matches and drawn two others.
Trincity Nationals went into Saturday's match in fourth place, and defended stoutly against Real Dimension, who did most of the attacking. But it was not until the 52nd minute when Real finally made the breakthrough when striker Burgin planted a Karen Forbes corner-kick inside the far corner.
Trincity Nationals depended heavily on striker Jonelle Warwick for their attacking play. And Warwick was unfortunate not to get an equaliser when she deliberately chipped the ball over Real keeper Chantel Roberts in the 58th minute, only to see the ball come off the underside of the crossbar.
A teammate later forced in the rebound from an offside position. Given a reprieve, Real extended their lead to 2-0 via a solo run by Tobago striker Candice Edwards, who went on a long run up the right before beating the goalie with a low shot.
And Real went further ahead the 80th through an own goal. A defensive error saw the ball bouncing awkwardly between goalkeeper and defender in the Trincity backline and then spinning wickedly to end up in the net.
