Dwayne Marcelle netted the lone goal as Bethel United eked out a 1-0 win over Goal City to climb to top spot in the Tobago Football Association Premier Division at Plymouth Recreation Ground on Wednesday.
The win moved Bethel to 17 points from eight matches, one more than Roxborough Lakers and Mason Hall USSS, which have played a match less.
Mason Hall used goals from Stefano Wright and Keldon Baker to slip past Leeds United in the earlier match at Plymouth. Koreen London was on target for Leeds which stayed fifth with 12 points.
On Monday, Kursyl Vincent, London and Kelvon Morris scored for Leeds United in a 3-0 shut-out of Bethel at Plymouth Recreation Ground on Monday.
Fourth placed Lambeau missed out on a chance of going top of the table after falling 2-1 to Lambeau in Monday’s second match at Plymouth.
Malcolm Jack and Nicholas London netted for Georgia while Anson Campbell got Lambeau’s lone reply. On Friday at Plymouth, Kayode Legall and his cousin Hakeem Legall netted two goals each as Goal City condemned St Clair Coaching School to cellar-spot with a 4-0 hammering.
Goal City climbed to nine points from seven matches, while defending champions, St Clair, in the midst of its worst season in the league so far stayed bottom of the 12-team table with four points from eight matches, the same as Sidey’s FC which has played a match less.
In Friday’s other match, Kirt Baynes, Jhadye Williams and Kurt Campbell scored a goal each to lead Stokely Vale past 1976 Phoenix, 3-1 also at Plymouth.
