Deon Lewis’ lone goal in the ninth minute saw Coosals Las Lomas United defeat Eagles United 1-0 to win the final of the Central Football Association (CFA) Chaguanas Borough Hugo Francis Memorial Cup, at the Hugo Francis Recreation Ground, Chaguanas.
Las Lomas had only gotten to the final via a 4-2 penalty-kick victory, after staging a spirited second half rally to draw 3-3 with Enterprise Youths FC. Enterprise led 3-0 at the end of the first half through goals from Denzil Daniel (15th), Kefim Blackford (25th) and Tavrean Sobers (31st).
But, the second half belonged to Las Lomas when Steven Lewis (47th) and Deon Lewis (48th & 80th) both scored to level the match.
In the other semifinal, Eagles United defeated Xtrafoods Chaguanas FC 2-0. They led through a 39th minute own goal, and Jamal Antoine added a second in the 48th minute.
Coosals Las Lomas United were presented with the first prize of $4,000 and the Hugo Francis Memorial Cup by the Mayor of Chaguanas, Orlando Nagasser. The trophies for the CFA Youth Under-15 and Under-17 football competitions were also distributed
