BRYANT CONSTANTINE registered a hat-trick as Perseverance United drubbed Leeds FC 7-1 last Thursday, at the Hugo Francis Recreation Ground in Chaguanas.
This game was the first of a double-header, in the Central Football Association (CFA) Ramsingh Sports World FA Cup competition.
Constantine got his name on the scoresheet in the ninth, 42nd and 43rd minutes as Perseverance United showed little sympathy on their opponents.
Kareem Garcia (13th), Scott Benny (30th), Andy Garcia (80th) and Jaffet Williams (87th) added one apiece for Perseverance, with Emmanuel Phillip (84th) getting the lone strike for Leeds.
The latter game on Thursday was also a goal-fest, as Eagles United earned a come-from-behind 4-1 triumph over Fire Services.
Jeremy Trimm gave Fire a 17th minute advantage but Eagles stormed back in convincing fashion, with Keron Corona equalising in the 25th.
Glenwell John got the go-ahead goal in the 55th and Eagles did not look back, with Kendell Glasgow scoring the third in the 77th and Michael James adding one more, a minute later.
Two other FA Cup matches were contested on Sunday, at the Hugo Francis Ground.
Caroni Tabaquite earned a 3-0 default victory over Flamengo FC while Xtra Foods Chaguanas FC held off a determined response from Perseverance Ball Runners to prevail 2-1.
Randy Harris put Chaguanas in front after 15 minutes, with Anthony County doubling the lead in the 59th. Keron Clarke pulled one back in the 72nd but that was as good as it got for Ball Runners.
In related news, the top three teams in the respective groups (Hugo Francis and Henry Franklin), will advance to the CRIL-sponsored Premier League Big Six competition.
The winner will represent the Central Zone at the 2014 Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) Champion of Champions tournament, for a chance to progress to the 2014-2015 National Super League.
