Williams leads off UMFK's 5-1 rout of UMPI
Andre Anderson (Manchester, Jamaica) scored two goals to help lead the UMFK men's soccer team to a 5-1 win over Maine Presque Isle in the annual Potato Barrel Classic Wednesday evening in Presque Isle. The game was also a mutal Sunrise Conference opener.
Lewis tabbed for offensive honor
After opening up the season in a three-match unbeaten streak of 2-0-1, junior forward Makesi Lewis was named Offensive Player of the Week and sophomore goalkeeper Mitch Hildebrandt earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades in The Summit League’s initial men’s soccer awards of the season.
EMCC’s Leonardo Reyes named NJCAA Men’s Soccer Player of the Week
EMCC sophomore Leonardo Reyes has been named the NJCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for his efforts in helping lead the Lions to three straight wins to begin the 2009 campaign. The announcement was made by the NJCAA office headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Orr's goal is enough to see off Avila
The MBU men's soccer team split its contests in the McKendree University Classic this weekend. The Spartans took a 1-0 win over Avila University on Friday night, improving to 3-0. MBU junior Ger Coppinger (Ireland) earned the shutout. MBU junior Nyron Orr (Trinidad & Tobago) scored the game's only goal at 24:52. The assist came from junior Ryan Harris (Alton, Ill./Lewis & Clark CC).
Holder named Atlantic Soccer Conference Goalkeeper of the Week
Adelphi University junior Thorne Holder (Port of Spain, Trinidad) was named Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) Goalkeeper of the Week as announced by the conference office on September 9. This is the first honor of the season for Holder and the first for the program in 2009.
Brown's pair of goals downs Bentley University
Senior midfielder Reuel Brown (Arima, Trinidad & Tobago) scored a pair of goals on Sunday evening to lead the University of Bridgeport to a 2-0 victory over Bentley University on the second day of the Franklin Pierce Labor Day Classic, hosted by Franklin Pierce University, at Sodexo Field.
Brown wins East Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
University of Bridgeport senior midfielder Reuel Brown (Armia, Trinidad & Tobago) and junior goalkeeper Milos Suljagic (Belgrade, Serbia) have been named this week’s East Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week. This week’s honor is the second consecutive week that Suljagic has been selected as the ECC’s Defensive Player of the Week.
Yearwood named to 2009 NIKE/Aaron Olitsky Memorial Soccer Classic All-Tournament Team
John Bello and Kareem Yearwood scored goals, as the College of Charleston men's soccer team defeated Old Dominion 2-0 in the finale of the 2009 NIKE/Aaron Olitsky Memorial Soccer Classic on Sunday.
