Graciano Brito (Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde) scored two goals and Dominic Adams (John Dial, Trinidad and Tobago) and Durval Pereira (Cheshire, Conn.) each had two assists as the Quinnipiac University men’s soccer team defeated Central Connecticut State University, 3-1, Sunday afternoon. The win improves the Bobcats’ Northeast Conference mark to 3-2 and 8-4-2 overall. The defending NEC Champion Blue Devils are now 0-4-1 in conference play and 6-6-2 overall this season.

Pereira opened the scoring with his fifth of the season in the eighth minute. Adams started the play by blocking a clearing attempt and passing up to Brito for a shot on goal. The shot was deflected to the right of the goal mouth by a sprawling Paul Armstrong in goal for the Blue Devils. Pereira sprinted into the box and kicked the ball into the top left corner of the net for the 1-0 lead.

Yan Klukowski tied the score, 1-1, in the 43rd minute. Klukowski beat Quinnipiac goalkeeper, Freddy Hall (St. George, Bermuda) on a penalty kick after being taken down inside the 18-yard box.

Brito scored his 13th goal of the season in the 68th minute to give the Bobcats a 2-1 lead. Brito knocked down a high pass from Pereira 30 yards out and moved around two Blue Devil defenders at the top of the box before beating Armstrong to the bottom right corner.

The Bobcats took a two-goal advantage with Brito’s second goal of the game. The goal came in the 80th minute after the senior forward beat a Blue Devil defender one-on-one inside the box and blasted a shot to the lower left corner of the goal. Adams collected his second assist of the game on the goal.

Hall made three saves in earning his eighth win of the season. Central Connecticut’s Armstrong stopped eight Quinnipiac shots in the loss.

Quinnipiac returns to action on Friday, Oct. 31, as they travel to Moon Township Pa., to take on the Colonials of Robert Morris University at 3 p.m.
