Kwesi PetersonDivision I Lakeland Community College (Kitland, Ohio) defender Kwesi Peterson and Barton Community College (Great Bend, Kan.) goalkeeper Donovan Dowling along with Division III Dutchess Community College (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) forward Nick Jerussi and Anne Arundel Community College (Arnold, Md.) goalie Travis Young are this week's NJCAA Men's Soccer Players of the Week for the week ending October 18.

Division I
Kwesi Peterson (Belmont Boys; Maloney, Trinidad) scored the winning goal against Cincinnati State over the weekend to clinch the OCCAC title for Lakeland. With two minutes left in the game, the central defender scored the go ahead goal in the 2-1 victory. Peterson currently leads his team with 28 points (12 goals, four assists). "Kwesi is frequently playing hurt," says coach Djuro Peric, "but when he is out here, everyone plays better. As long as Kwesi is on the field, we have a chance to win." The strong team leader tallied a goal an assist earlier in the week in a 6-1 victory over Mercyhust NE.

Donovan Dowling (Olathe South; Olathe, Kan.) recorded four saves in his 12th shuout of the season last week over Neosho (5-0). The Cougar goalie and defense has allowed only five goals on 72 shots this season. He currently ranks second in the nation with a .274 goals against average. Barton has remained undefeated at 16-0-1. Dowling has set two school records with 22 shutouts in his career and 12 this season.
