Joel CowanThe Milligan College men's soccer team lost in the first round of post season play to Covenant College 2-1, wrapping up their fall season.

Covenant scored first in the first half. However, the Buffs rallied back when junior Joel Cowan ( Mt. Grace, Trinidad & Tobago) scored from 35 yards out early in the second half off of a long ball from freshman center defender Andy Stewart . The Scots came back to secure the victory with a goal later in the second half.

The Buffs and the Scots posted an even 14-14 for shots during the game. Senior goalkeeper Bryan Newbold (Sylva, NC) totaled nine saves, while the Covenant keeper had five.

“We proved what we were capable of doing in short spurts during the game, but if you can't manage to put together an organized and intense effort at this point in the season then it's going to cost you,” said Head Coach Adam Laney. “The year ended a little sooner than we would have liked, but it's going to end sometime.”
